  1. Please send the referral letter from your GP or Paediatrician at least one week in advance of the appointment to Joanna. (Contact details at bottom of page)

  2. Bookings for new patients are usually for 30 minutes, for follow-up patients 15 minutes. Please arrive in 15 minutes advance so that nurses can take your child’s weight and height measurements and Joanna can update contact details, correspondence and other administrative matters.

  3. Individual requirements can be arranged in advance such as telephone/Skype for remote follow-up consultations, please discuss the requirements with Joanna Rosedale and tariffs with Trish Tighe (contact details at bottom of page). Please check your individual insurance tariff and extent of cover, and provide us with details of what is included or what personal contributions/excesses apply.

Insurance companies:

Appointments are available with all insurance companies (if not listed below, please contact Joanna and Trish in advance so that eligibility can be confirmed or arranged), and for self-paying patients.

Important note: Private medical insurance companies provide a variable range of policies and exclusions, and tariffs are often capped, or incur an excess which can apply for consultation fees, investigations, procedures, or conditions. Please inquire about the type of cover with your insurance provider and inform Joanna and Trish in advance, so that we can provide an optimal plan for your child and your circumstances. Trish Tighe will send out or prepare the respective invoice prior to or for the day of consultation. Please understand that we request to pay self-pay fees, excess or capped fees prior to consultation by BACS or on site. To minimise administrative time and fees, we will collect self-pay and excess fees due on the day of consultation via card reader on site. Currently we do not collect fees over the phone.

Accepted forms of payment in advance (for self-paying patients or fees not covered by insurance policy): BACS transfer, credit or debit cards on site, cheque, or cash. We are pleased to announce that as the first service to return to reception desk, we are again able to offer payment via card-reader on site.

Cancellation fees apply for cancellations less than 48 hours (partial) and less than 24 hours (full) for missed clinic appointments and endoscopy appointments, please check our T&C in the invoice letter for details.

Investigations and procedures:

Dr Auth will advise you in the consultation if and what investigations and procedures are indicated and feasible, and decide with you where these will be performed. You will receive a list of costs from the Nuffield Hospital for blood or stool test, endoscopic and imaging procedures, from Joanna and Trish. Blood tests can be performed on the day of consultation or separately by our paediatric nurses and hospital doctors.

As of 1.10.23 our anaesthetic partners from Chester Anesthetics LLP have updated their professional fees. Please contact them directly (contact details will be provided on site) to check with your private medical insurance companies your PMI cover, your excess and potential shortfalls, which you will have to settle directly with Chester Anaesthetics.

 Endoscopies:

Endoscopy procedures are performed on Thursday mornings between 8:30 – 12:00 in the Nuffield Health Grosvenor Hospital Chester.

What to bring to the appointment:

  • A summary of symptoms and medical history is required for appointment booking and to allow for more conversation time during the consultation. Please send the completed medical information letter (questionnaire) one week in advance so that Joanna can upload the letter and Dr Auth can review.

  • Please arrive 20 minutes before the consultation with sufficient time to register in the Hospital and our clinic desk, get your child’s measurements done, and allow for a comfort break for you and your child.

  • Medical insurance details/authorisation and personal contact details.

  • GP referral letter and copies of relevant previous letters from paediatricians and hospitals, and copies of previous investigations.

  • If you come from afar, for some conditions it might be indicated to bring also a stool test sample (can usually be from the day before) or occasionally urine sample (from the same day) – Joanna can advise you if you are unsure. If your child has been booked for a breath test, other information will be provided.

  • Favourite toys, music or distractions for young children (patients and siblings) for consultations and when they are having a blood test.
